Rabobank must pay Michael Rasmussen about a million dollars for the way it kicked him off its 2007 Tour de France team, a judge has ruled.
A Utrecht judge ruled Rabobank had been entitled to dismiss him from the team, but it followed the wrong procedure.
Rasmussen was banned for two years by Monaco Cycling Federation on Tuesday.
As the body who had held Rasmussen’s racing licence, the Monaco Cycling Federation have suspended him from this year’s Tour and the ban will end on 25 July next year. Read more »

Michael Rasmussen has not given up up the Tour de France. The Danish rider is currently conducting a lawsuit against his former employer, Rabobank, but has already stated that he will be up in the saddle again.Â

Michael Rasmussen is requiring millions in compensation from Rabobank because he believes that he has been fired on a wrong basis. The verdict will be given July 2nd in the dutch city Utrecht.

He did not win the Tour de France, but Michael Rasmussen is still the real winner of the Tour in many fans oppinnion. More than 55.000 visited www.kyllingen.com to sign the online petition, showing their support for the Danish cyclist Michael Rasmussen.
It is a fantastic support, as people from Denmark and abroad have shown. I am very glad that I have been able to give that many people a framework to be able to give their support. I hope that Michael Rasmussen could feel and use the support in his darkest hours, says the author of the online petition, Kasper Michael de Thurah.
He has not even had the opportunity to meet Michael Rasmussen, he’s just glad that Michael gets the support he deserves.
The most important thing for me is, that he is aware of the website, and knows that he is the real winner in our eyes, says Kasper Michael de Thurah.
At the beginning it was almost exclusively Danes, who visited the website, but very quickly, the word got spread and people from all over the world signed their support.

Now the time has come to update this website. Many of you have written to me, asking me for updates, news and what was going to happen on this domain. I’m not quite sure yet, but now the work has begun. I have contacted Michael to hear if he had any wishes regarding this website and hopefully he will be a big part of it in the future. But let’s remember, his difficult time is far from over. So again, be patient and continue to show your support of this great man.
